What a Day for the Zoo!

Ok, so the Weather was a bit ominous this morning as we headed out to the Zoo, but the forecast said it was supposed to be fine in St. Paul, so we took off to meet our friends Jenny and Reid and their boy, Nolan at Como Zoo. We had a great day and after killing a little time inside at the Conservatory, Gift Shop and the Sloth Exhibit, the rain quit and we had a perfect day! Warm, but breezy and no crowd on a Saturday!

TIGF

I could go with the obvious, I'm thankful for my health and the health of most of our friends and family members, given that Mark and Grandpa are both in the hospital recovering from surgeries and there are many people whom I know who are not so fortunate with their health right now, but I feel like I had that same exact post about one year ago to the season when both Mark and Grandpa were also in the hospital at the same time late last summer.

So let's go with something happier and kinda funny instead. Today I'm thankful for my child's creativity. Of course I think she's brilliant, I'm the mom, but I thought it was super cute when I came into the room the other day and she had her baby purse on her head just like a winter hat. It fit her pretty well too:)

I'm sure I have also mentioned the variety of monsters who are her imaginary friends, she has animated conversations with my feet from time to time and she's very imaginative in so many ways. I love watching her grow!

Sail Away, Sail Away...

Lake Hubert is a pretty quiet lake by recreational standards. There are a few water skiers and tubing enthusiasts, but mostly it's sail boats, canoes/kayaks and pontoons. It's really a peaceful place most of the week!

Critters of Hubert

I love Lake Hubert, but there are some critters I could keep and some I could do without. One of the best parts of the lake is the bird population. There are Osprey, Woodpeckers, all kinds of water birds and two favorites: The Loony Bird and the Eagle. Sorry the Eagle shot is so bad, that's the closest he got to us. I wanted to go to the nesting platform on the lake and take a picture of the Mom and Baby, but we never did find time.

The toads are fine except when they hop out of nowhere at dusk and scare you, but the critters I like LEAST of all in the whole world are spiders. This year we discovered a kind of sand spider that literally blends in perfectly with the sand. The first one I found, my mom tried valiantly to kill for me by throwing it the lake and it RAN across the water right back to the beach. YUCK! We killed a good half dozen or more of these! But I didn't get bit this year!

Celebrating Jeff and Angie

Taking a break from Nisswa posts for just a minute...This weekend was the bachelor/bachelorette party for Jeff Olson and is fiance Angie. It was a great time and good people watching as many of them got a little too wobbly on the boat...and not from the waves! It's always fun to hang with out Olson sibs and their cousins too;)

Day 7-C

The last of the fishing shots. The top picture is of all of us kids in our T-shirts from mom and dad with our big Hubert Catch from various years. Every year the person with the biggest fish normally gets the T-shirt. We now all have one! (Sorry the pic is so dark, I think my batteries we starting to die.)
