Easter Continued

This is Easter at the Schusters...except the one where she has her hair in a ponytail. I had her hair perfect for church in a pony with a perfect little curl...one tantrum was all it took to ruin that for the entire day. Ugh. Riley took a long nap on Saturday which meant she didn't go to bed until after 10 p.m. so we started out on a bad note. That's the downside if her taking naps these days. She is tired and needs them, but then it messes up the night routine and most of the next day too.

Happy Easter (a day late)

This post is going to take me a few days. We had a great Easter...with the exception of a few tantrums from a tired little girl...We started with finding hidden Easter Baskets then off to church. After that we did a whirlwind trip to Grandma and Grandpa Schuster's before Grandma Linda had to work and then off to my side of the family at my parent's house. So much fun to see all the kids on holidays! Thanks everyone for spoiling my kids!

Easter Egg Hunting Adult-Style

I know...Easter Egg Hunts are supposed to be for kids right? Well some of us never grow up! The kids will get their share of egg hunting tomorrow with the grandparents. Today we went back to the old hood. Here are some of the highlights. That Salted Nut Roll I mentioned in the post earlier is 25lbs, 53,400 calories and serves more than 260. YIKES! Zacky found the first of the two golden eggs for the second year in a row for him (he might have had some help). Derek Fore, a kid I used to babysit 100 years ago, found the second golden egg. Zack chose the chocolate bunny, which was fine cuz I think all the boys were trying for that nut roll!

The kids had a great time helping with their egg picker-uppers. Thanks Auntie Meg! Some of those eggs would have been hard to reach without them! We also did some kid stuff so they had a blast chasing candy and blowing bubbles. A great day...and the weather could not have been nicer!

4th Annual Adult Egg Hunt

I know I post every year about this since we started it...but I'm so excited. Today is the 4th Annual Edgemont Adult Easter Egg Hunt! ( Rain or shine!) I will have pictures later, weather permitting (meaning if I dare bring my camera out in the wet). This is a tradition started by our parents long long ago in a land far away...or really 15 minutes up the road in my old neighborhood when I was growing up:) At a wedding for one of those old neighbors, one drunken "kid" who's now grown up suggested we should do it again since some people still live in the old hood. And so we did...Adult Style. Easter Eggs are filled with numbers to corresponding prize tables: Booze, Non-Booze Beverages, Food, Random Crap and of course the traditional Chocolate Rabbit/"Golden Egg" prize! This year there will be a second "Golden Egg" prize...a super size...and I mean SUPER sized Salted Nut Roll. Thanks Mom and Reed for donating the Golden stuff this year:) Our parents rocked when we were kids and they still do!

TIGF

This is a weird year for us. New baby, working on selling our house if we can, Josh is trying to get a new job, Riley will start pre-school in the fall and that means she will be potty trained by the end of the summer...and that means maybe a new puppy. In all that chaos, I am thankful for what we do have. I have a great hubby who helps me clean and cook and take care of the kids. We have a house that we have loved for 7 years and good neighbors whom we will really miss when we leave. We are lucky that Josh has a job, even if it's one he has outgrown, so to speak. And we have great kids. Granted, very strong-willed and challenging some days, we are really very blessed. Today I am thankful for our life as we know it. It's our crazy life and we love it!

Spring has Sprung!

Yesterday was in the mid-70s and a little gray, but otherwise, beautiful! We went to the park for a play date in the morning (pictures of that to come later) and then Riley and I spend some time in the back yard while Rowan was napping. I didn't get too much accomplished...a few piles raked...but we did discover some crocus peeking out of the brown. Spring has officially sprung!

Daddy's Kids

Both kids can be accused of being either Daddy's Girl or Daddy's Boy...and he loves it! Riley will often tell me that she and Josh are going to "Daddy's park" and she and Daddy go skating most weekends too. Last weekend, Josh had hockey and he had to have the kids there to see Daddy play, so this is Rowan's first official trip to a hockey arena...he was 6 weeks old! Don't worry, we sat in an enclosed room where it's not cold to watch. Riley enjoyed poking her head out the door to yell "Go Dad!"
