Random Wild Life Visitors

On Wednesday, I picked up my niece Brynn at my parents house for my sister who was at a field trip with my other niece and was meeting us at our house for Softball later. On my way to mom and dad's I saw the swan that has not been on the pond near our house all spring, a fawn and mama deeper, a baby snapper turtle (No pictures because I was driving). When I GOT to my parents, there was also Violet the baby turtle who was coming home with Brynn...Lots of critters...and then we were playing in the yard and the kids had their bug boxes out and one of them had this moth in it...who was NOT there last weekend when we cleaned the garage! There must have been a cocoon in the box we didn't notice and it just came out pretty recently!

LFL Special Visit!

On Friday of Memorial Day weekend we had a special visitor to our Little Free Library. This is Erin, a steward from an LFL in California! She has family in the Lakeville area and they were celebrating the life of her Great Aunt during the weekend. While she was here, to honor her memory, Erin brought 10 copies of this book. The illustrations are based on her Great Aunt's home.

We were her farthest north on a mission to put all 10 books in LFLs around the Twin Cities. I have met two other local stewards, but this is my first long-distance steward and I was so happy to have met her!

Every time Erin visits a new LFL, she and her friend "Charlotte" the spider usually drop a copy of Charlotte's Web instead of the Not Enough Beds book, so the pictures with the spider in it are her Mascot, visiting mine. I recently just got an Alice in Wonderland figure to do this very same thing! So excited to start our summer adventure looking for new Little Free Libraries! The kids have a goal of finding 32 this summer...random number?

Little Free Library - Girls Weekend Tour

While we were up in Nisswa, it was the Little Free Library organizations 3rd birthday. To Celebrate they were holding a book drive to collect books (children and YA) for local LFLs to get them ready for the summer and get them stocked up for kids out of school and in need of reading resources. I brought some books up to donate to the LFLs up there. There are two on Main Street Nisswa that I have visited before (thus no pics) one was well stocked and the other I just put a few in because it was pretty stocked too. Then on the way home we stopped at two more...this yellow one on 22 Juniper Ave in Brainerd and the bottom one closer to home in Maple Grove near my parents house. Both were LFLs I have not visited before so it was fun for me...thanks Mom and Sibs for humoring me!!! I would say the yellow one is perhaps the most whimsical I have seen so far!

Girls Weekend!

So after a 1 year hiccup we are back to our annual Girls Weekend in May up in Nisswa. For the second year, we stayed at Maddens and had a beautiful view...too bad it wasn't warm enough to enjoy our patio or the beautiful waterfall outside our room. It pretty much rained the entire time we were there. We did get a little bit of a walk in on Friday night to check out the grounds...no wildlife out that night but lots of air planes...there was some kind of small plane convention there last weekend :) As always, the shopping was pretty darn good despite the rain and the food was amazing. I think Bar Harbor might be a new favorite up there for me!
